Yesterday saw September’s full moon, the harvest moon, the final Supermoon of 2023. While I don’t think I am ever affected by the full moon energies, last night was a troubling one for me. I was restless, my mind was racing and I just couldn’t settle. Teary from a dream, I crept out of the bedroom put the kettle on and when my tea was ready, sat on the sofa with my journal. With fairy lights for company, I began to journal what was going on.
I haven’t put pen to paper this way in a while and I can feel it. Journaling is my grounding practice and has been there to support me through quitting drinking, my husband’s stroke and the loss of our son. The practice also features heavily in the work I do with clients and my book contains some of my most powerful journaling prompts.
In this very first journal prompt Substack post, I share two powerful prompts that you will find at the beginning of my new book which are designed to help you let go. I have added a couple of bonus questions for you to ponder too.
Don’t forget as a paid subscriber you can also share what comes up for you and get my thoughts and advice, so leave your comments below and tell me what came up for you.
Make a list of all the things that you regret or which make you feel sad, ashamed, upset or guilty. Then burn the list, just let it go. (This is a very powerful ritual that you should do regularly. The full moon is a really special time to do it)
Imagine that you are a child or your best friend who comes to you with these feelings and emotions. How would you treat them, what would you say? Learn to treat yourself as you would your loved ones. Stop beating yourself up for what has happened. Start being kind and Let. It. Go.
If fear is holding you back from doing something important in your life, imagine a future where fear has no power over your decisions. What opportunities await you?
In what ways do you feel stuck? What needs to happen in order for you to let go and move on?
